Stephen Huycke
for IIMC Vice President

Who is Stephen?
I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. The eldest of four children, from a young age I developed a deep sense of commitment to serving others at home and in the community.

I am an enthusiastic and passionate person, committed to serving the things that matter to me. My faith, family and friends are the most important things in my life. My career and the many communities I am part of are a close second.
I work hard so that I can play hard. I believe that life is supposed to be lived to its fullest by experiencing the many things it has to offer. Away from the Office, I always make time for family adventures, travel, going out to dinner, a good conversation over a great bottle of wine, reading, theatre, concerts, and so much more.
Leadership
I am a leader with more than 15 years of experience in local government. I am proud to have served three different communities in progressively more challenging roles including:

Director of Legislative Services/City Clerk, City of Richmond Hill
-
Acting Director Legal & Legislative Services/Town Clerk, Town of Aurora
-
Manager of Legislative Services/Town Clerk, Town of Aurora
-
Acting Deputy City Clerk, City of Markham
-
Public Services and Records Coordinator, City of Markham
I am focused on delivering dynamic and modern public services. I have been successful because I have built and led teams that believe in doing the same. I believe in fostering teams dedicated to education and building positive relationships.

Prior to my local government career, I worked for a major Canadian public research university. My role was to help them to advance the research and education mission through administration of a diverse intellectual property portfolio of patents, trademarks and copyrights.
